Navratri Festival - Shri Shri Gita Society

Navratri Festival

A Journey of Sadhana, Silence, Love & Consciousness

Navratri is not merely nine days of worship; it is an invitation to discover the Divine power already resting within us. Whether it is Chaitra Navratri or Sharadiya Navratri, both offer the seeker an opportunity to turn inward—from outer noise to inner silence, from restless thought to meditation, and from ego to a deeper experience of existence.

At Shri Shri Gita Society, Navratri is observed not simply as a festival, but as a period of sincere Sadhana, Tapasya, meditation and inner exploration. Through Durga Puja, mantra, prayer, Bhajans, Kirtans and Satsang, the ashram becomes a space where celebration and spiritual discipline come together.

Day 1 — Maa Shailputri

The Beginning: Inner Stability

Maa Shailputri represents the strength and stillness of the mountain. Every inner journey begins by learning to become still. When the mind stops running in every direction and one learns simply to be present, the journey inward begins.

Day 2 — Maa Brahmacharini

Tapasya & Devotion

Brahmacharini represents discipline, perseverance and devotion. Tapasya is not suppression; it is the conscious gathering of one’s energy toward a higher purpose. When the search is sincere, discipline gradually becomes love.

Day 3 — Maa Chandraghanta

Courage Beyond Fear

Maa Chandraghanta represents awareness and fearlessness. We carry many fears within us, and they often keep us distant from our own truth. When fear is observed with complete awareness, its power begins to disappear.

Day 4 — Maa Kushmanda

The Creative Energy of Existence

Maa Kushmanda represents the creative energy that flows through existence. Every breath, every tree, every river and every living being participates in this great mystery of creation. To become aware of this is to experience life with wonder and gratitude.

Day 5 — Maa Skandamata

When Sadhana Blossoms into Love

Maa Skandamata represents compassion, nurturing and unconditional love. When spiritual practice reaches the heart, knowledge begins to flower as compassion. The other is no longer truly “the other.” Love becomes a natural expression of awakened consciousness.

Day 6 — Maa Katyayani

Awakened Strength

Maa Katyayani represents courage, determination and the strength to stand for truth. Spirituality is not weakness or escape from life. When consciousness awakens, one finds the courage to face injustice, negativity and the challenges within oneself.

Day 7 — Maa Kalaratri

Meeting the Darkness Within

Maa Kalaratri represents the fierce transformation of fear, ignorance, ego and illusion. This is one of the deepest stages of Sadhana: instead of escaping our inner darkness, we learn to witness it. When darkness is seen in total awareness, it begins to dissolve into light.

Day 8 — Maa Mahagauri

Purity, Silence & Inner Peace

Maa Mahagauri represents purity, serenity and clarity. As unnecessary thoughts, attachments and ego begin to fall away, a natural silence emerges within. The seeker no longer runs after something; there is simply a deep contentment in being.

Day 9 — Maa Siddhidatri

Fulfilment Through Surrender

Maa Siddhidatri represents spiritual fulfilment and Divine grace. The deepest Siddhi is not the achievement of something extraordinary, but the quiet dissolution of the ego that constantly says, “I am achieving.” As the ego becomes silent, the vastness of existence begins to reveal itself.

Navratri at Shri Shri Gita Society

At Shri Shri Gita Society, both Chaitra and Sharadiya Navratri are observed as sacred periods of deep spiritual practice, meditation and self-exploration. Durga Puja, mantra chanting, meditation, prayers, Bhajans, Kirtans and Satsang create an atmosphere of devotion, silence and inner discipline within the ashram.

And when Sadhana moves deeper within, it naturally expresses itself outwardly as Seva. Through food distribution, clothing and essential support for those in need, devotion becomes compassion in action.

Do not search for the Divine only outside.
Turn inward.
Where fear disappears, there is strength.
Where ego becomes silent, there is love.
And where love becomes complete, there is Oneness.

Nine nights. Nine doors. One inward journey—
from outer worship to inner awakening.
