Child Nurtures ( The School for Street Children)

It’s a regular sighting in India, where children lives on the roads, begs on the traffic signals and they also do garbage picking as well. It is a heart wrenching. Have you ever wondered Who are they? Why they do this? Why they are living such a miserable live? Why they do not live like other kids? Surely, we all see this, but we barely do anything for them except sometime giving them alms. Poverty is the root cause of this hardship and anguish. India is a country which is plagued with poverty, millions of people lives below poverty line and many of them even fail to maintain minimum standard of life. Poverty compels people to live such a painful life and they engage themselves in begging and garbage picking and sometimes even pick-pocketing in their quest for food. They even don’t have a house and they resides near the streets on the footpaths. So, when this misery will end? They are also human being. They also deserve to lead a normal life. Children have right to education too.

Project “Child Nurture” is an extension of the “Sanskaar Shiksha Paathshala” initiative by Shri Shri Gita Society. The project provides a ray of hope to the millions of children who lead a miserable life on the streets of India. It is the motto of the project to bring a smile on their face and give them a better life.

Under this project, we aim to set up a school where poor kids will get a free education and a better life. The school aim to provide education to the poor children from the streets, slums and rural areas. Basic facilities such as food, cloth, sanitation, healthcare and accommodation will also be provided to them under the project. It will enable them to live a normal life like other children of the society. Education enlightenment will make them self-reliant. They will be able to lead their life on their own when they grow up.

Education system of the school will be based on two facades. First, the contemporary education. Second, the spiritual learnings. Other, co-curricular activities will also be arranged at the school such as sports, mediation, yoga, Judo-Karate etc. Other facilities which have been planned at the school include free transportation service to the poor kids from slum and tribal areas; “Bhojanalaya” the free canteen at the school for everyone, and hostel facility especially to accommodate the homeless kids. Hostel’s rooms will be equipped with minimum infrastructure requirements such as 24/7 water and electricity supply, bathrooms. Basic furniture will be provided in the hostel's rooms like bed, table, chair and cupboard.

We will endeavour to nurture the brilliance of every single child of the school. We will persistently focus on the overall development of the poor kids to give them a gift of normal life. We believe that our initiative will bring a positive change in the miserable life of these poor kids. Bringing cheers to the life of poor children, makes us feel proud and delighted; as we served our purpose of serving the humanity.
